Translation is the art of facing the impossible, of confronting unbridgeable discontinuities between texts, between languages, and between people. As such it has an ethical as well as an intellectual dimension. It recognizes the other -the composer of the original text- as a center of meaning apart from oneself.

WHAT IS A TRANSLATION?

.

Translation is a creative and interpretive human activity that has a great existential meaning, which consists of leaving an <<eco>> in the language into which the content of the original work is translated. This echo is not a reflection of content, but rather the creation of a harmony between the meeting of two different languages so that both reproduce the same communication effect.

.

Therefore, translation requires the ability to understand the meaning of the text in its source language, reflect on the analysis and interpretation of the text and reproduce it in another language effectively, ensuring that said translation is faithful, idiomatic. and free from the syntactic ties of the source language. Therefore, a translation does not consist in the mere transfer of content - much less of cultural contexts - from one language to another, nor in the simple substitution of one word for another.

.

The translation owes its existence to the original work and gives it perpetuity in other cultures; and represents the result of the transformation of said previous original work, resulting in another different work that carries behind the academic training, effort, work, intellectual and artistic creativity, knowledge of the subject and its sociocultural realities, as well as personal sensitivity of the translator. Today, the great technological advances offer us automatic translators through online platforms, which have limited use, since they do not replace, under any circumstances, the human work of a translator.
